SUBSTITUTE TEACHER REGISTRATION
**ALL STEPS MUST BE COMPLETED TO BE A SUBSTITUTE TEACHER**
To register as a substitute teacher in Catoosa County you must have the following:
High School Diploma or equivalent
A four-hour training class is required in Catoosa County if you are not a Certified Teacher.
The substitute training class is offered thru Northwest GA RESA. Registration for the substitute training class
must be completed online at www.nwgaresa.com (click on “Substitute Teacher Trainings” link on that website).
There is a $50 nonrefundable fee that must be paid before attending the class.
Complete Substitute Request/Recommendation Form:
Please complete the top portion of the form. Then, take the form to one school to be completed by the school
administrator. The school administrator will send the completed form to Human Resources.
Human Resources will contact the applying substitute:
contacted to be registered for fingerprinting/background check. $52.75 fingerprinting fee / money order only
schedule an appointment to complete additional paperwork.
Complete paperwork in Human Resources:
Applications cannot be processed without these original documents.
Social Security Card
Original documentation showing the highest level of education COMPLETED
Substitute Teacher Training Certificate -OR- Teacher Certification License
Start being a Substitute Teacher:
To be added to a particular school substitute list, please take the Substitute Teacher Verification form that you
receive from Human Resources to that school.
