Catoosa County Board of Education recognized by GSBA as a Distinguished Board

Superintendent Denia Reese presented the board with the Georgia School Board Association (GSBA) 2014 Distinguished Board of Education Award at the board meeting on January 6, 2015. Distinguished Board Status was GSBA’s highest level of recognition for 2014. Superintendent Reese said, “I congratulate our board members for this recognition and truly appreciate their work and dedication to public education and to the children and families in Catoosa County,"

The GSBA criteria to become a Distinguished Board include:

Strategic Planning: The system must have a current strategic plan that includes balanced scorecards on completing district goals.

Vision for Public Education in Georgia: The board has incorporated ten of the Georgia Vision Project local school district recommendations into the system’s strategic plan.

Assessment: The board and the superintendent conduct a self-assessment that is reviewed by community stakeholders, board members, and a central office administrator.

Superintendent Evaluation: The annual Superintendent Evaluation instrument incorporates strategic plan goals.

Local Board of Education Training Requirements: The local Board of Education exceeds the State Board’s training requirements by a minimum of three additional credit hours.

Accreditation: The Board of Education and the school district comply with the standards of all selected accreditation associations applicable.

Coaching: The Catoosa County Board of Education agrees to provide assistance to Quality Boards seeking to achieve distinguished status.

Superintendent Reese said, "This is truly a great honor. It represents the commitment of our Board to Education to maintain the highest level of quality in leadership so we provide a world-class education for Catoosa’s children.”
