The Georgia General Assembly passed a law requiring all Georgia school systems to choose a new governance structure by June 30, 2015. After six months of listening to educators, parents, and community members, the Catoosa County Board of Education voted unanimously to submit a letter of intent to the Georgia Board of Education to become a Charter System.

Catoosa County Public Schools Charter System Application is complete and available for public review and comment. A significant feature of a Charter System is a Local School Governance Teams (LSGTs). A presentation explaining LSGTs is available by clicking here.

The Board of Education will hold two public hearings prior to approving the Charter System Application. Both meetings will be held at the Catoosa County Board of Education in the Board Room (307 Cleveland Street, Ringgold, GA). Meeting dates and times are as follows:

March 1, 2016, 6:00 p.m.

March 31, 2016, 6:00 p.m.

The Board of Education will listen to community comments during the public hearings. Citizens may also send comments and suggestions to Superintendent Reese at chartercomments@catoosa.k12.ga.us or by mail Catoosa County Public Schools, P. O. Box 130, Ringgold, GA 30736. Comments and suggestions should be received by March 25, 2016. The Board of Education will consider the application for approval after the public hearing on March 31, 2016.
