Fifth graders prepare their cardboard carnival games for Ringgold Elementary`s first Cardboard Challenge event

Inspired by the short film 'Caine's Arcade,' the Imagination Foundation's Global Cardboard Challenge invites kids around the world to design and build awesome creations using cardboard, recycled materials & imagination. Globally, on Oct 1st, friends, family and community members come together in a day of play, celebrating the creativity and imagination of kids everywhere. Visit http://cardboardchallenge.com/event/mckowns-cardboard-challenge/ for more information. Ringgold Elementary joined in the fun thanks to fifth grade teacher, Melissa McKown, who invited her students to take the challenge this year. As always, RES students came through in a big way! On October 1st, the front parking lot of Ringgold Elementary welcomed families and friends to enjoy the carnival-type, cardboard games which were designed and created by Ms. Melissa McKown's and Mrs. Shelley Gravley's 5th grade students. What a unique and fun way to incorporate creativity, architecture, design, conceptual and spatial awareness, and cooperative learning!
