| The FFA Wildlife CDE was held on February 6th at the North Georgia Fairgrounds in Dalton, Ga. The Heritage Wildlife team placed 1st against 26 other schools in the area and brought home the gold. This competition is a 4 person team event in which each member of the team competes in a different individual subject covering Wildlife Management principles. Individual scores are added together as well as the team activity score and the highest scoring team wins. Members of the team included Ivy Massengale who placed 1st in Aquatic Management, Avery Shupert placing 2nd in General Identification, Blaiz Harden placing 5th in Whitetail Deer Management, and Bailey Lane placing 6th in Game Bird Biology. The Wildlife Team will be competing in state competition on March 24th at the University of Georgia |

HHS Named AP Honor School by State Superintendent Barge |

Heritage High School was named an Advanced Placement (AP) Honor School by State School Superintedent Dr. John Barge. "Georgia has much to be proud of when it comes to the success of Advanced Placement," Superintedent Barge said. "Much of this success can be attributed to the dedication to rigor and excellence at each of our AP Honor Schools."
HHS was honored in two categories: AP STEM SCHOOL (schools with students testing in at least 2 AP math courses and 2 AP science courses) and AP STEM ACHIEVEMENT SCHOOL (schools with students testing in at least 2 AP math courses and 2 AP science courses and at least 40% of the exam scores earning a 3 or higher (AP tests scores range from 1-5, with most colleges awarding credit for scores of 3 or higher). HHS was recognized as an AP Honor School in 2009-10 and 2010-11.

Registration for 2012-13 School Year |
| Advisement and registration for the 2012-13 school year begins in February. All registration materials are available on-line under "student registration" on the left column of the school website. Registration nights will be held in the school cafeteria on the designated nights from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. A faculty advisor will sit down individually with parents and students to review each student's transcript and help students make decisions about classes for next year. |

HHS DECA Students Win at Region Competition |
|
|
On Thursday, January 26th, thirty-seven HHS DECA students competed in the 2012 DECA Region Competition held at the First Baptist Church of Dalton.
This year proved to be more intense with new national testing standards, new study materials, and more students participating in competition in Georgia DECA history. However, our students were prepared!!! We had eleven students who earned medals!!!

Justin Adekoya Signs Football Scholarship to Eastern Kentucky |

| Heritage High Senior Justin Adekoya signed a football scholarship to Eastern Kentucky University in a ceremony on National College Football Signing Day (February 1st). Justin is a member of the varsity football and varsity basketball teams. He participated in the North/South All Star fooball game, was named to the All Region Team, the Catoosa Dream Team and was an honorable metion for All State. Billy was selected as a member of the Catoosa-Walker County Dream Team. He was a member of the first every Heritage High football team his freshman year, will have the opportunity to play for Point University's first varsity football team. Prom 2012 is quickly approaching! This year's prom, themed Light Up the Night, will be held at the Chattanooga Trade and Convention Center on Saturday April 14, 2012 from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Homework Lab Open Mondays and Wednesdays |

A new Homework Lab is now open every Monday and Wednesday in the morning from 7:00 am to 8:00 am and afternoon from 3:45 pm to 4:45 pm. The Lab is located in the media center and is run by a math teacher and student member of the Beta Club. Tutors are available to help with homework, projects, or just to study for tests. No appointments are necessary! |
