History

Ringgold Middle School was founded in 1991 when Ringgold Junior High School was expanded to include the old Ringgold Elementary School building. Catoosa County Schools created the middle school by connecting the two schools with a dining hall, main office area, and hallway. In 1996, the school earned the honor of being recognized as a National School of Excellence. RMS received this award under the leadership of Mr. Con Kellerhals.

In the spring of 2005, Ringgold Middle School was awarded a comprehensive school reform grant. As a result, it has been recognized as a "Making Middle Grades Work" school. RMS continues to strive for excellence in every area.
