Dear Students, Staff, and Families,
Did you know that some of the earliest maps were considered matters of national security, and sharing them was an act of treason? In fact, Napoleon so highly valued the French-made map of Egypt that he sealed it and declared it a state secret. Much like those maps, having a roadmap in life can be just as valuable—it helps us understand where we’ve been, where we are, and where we’re headed.
As we begin the second semester, it’s the perfect time to reflect and recalibrate. What worked well last semester, and what didn’t? What needs to be celebrated, and what could be improved? By analyzing our successes and challenges, we gain invaluable insights for the road ahead.
The fall semester was not without its challenges, but so many incredible things happened in Catoosa County Public Schools. We celebrated achievements like:
-Recognizing our “Math Leader” schools.
-Winning state and regional championships.
-Achieving the highest graduation rate in CCPS history.
-Completing Phase I of Boynton Elementary School.
-Securing the 3rd highest SAT scores in Georgia.
-Making Christmas brighter for 839 of our children.
These milestones remind us of the power of determination and teamwork.
As we assess our progress, it’s important to ask ourselves:
Am I where I need to be right now?
If the answer is yes, keep pushing forward. If the answer is no, remember: nothing changes unless we make changes. Whether it’s academically, socially, athletically, or creatively, growth requires action. A change in how we practice transforms how we perform. A change in study habits transforms how we learn.
Do I know where I’m going?
Schools are designed to help students find their purpose. At CCPS, we know our purpose, and we are laser-focused on the future of education in Catoosa County. The decisions we are making today are paving the way for the next 25-50 years, ensuring that CCPS remains the school district of choice for our community.
I have never been more excited to start a new year! Our high school students have more opportunities than ever before, and our elementary students are being prepared for careers that don’t yet exist. Our roadmap is clear: we have as many possibilities and opportunities as we have students.
Happy New Year to all! Let’s make this semester one to remember.
Chance Nix
