Facilities

Maintenance Helpdesk

Catoosa County Public Schools has excellent facilities due to overwhelming support from the community for the Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (ESPLOST). ESPLOST is a penny tax on all consumer purchases that the Georgia General Assembly approved in 1997. Since ESPLOST is a sales tax, people outside our community who shop, eat, and buy gas in Catoosa County are helping to support capital outlay projects in our schools. ESPLOST I passed in 1998, and Catoosa citizens have continued to support this penny sales tax to provide safe and well-maintained facilities, technology, and buses for our students. With community input for projects, the referendum was on the ballot in March 2016, and the community overwhelmingly passed ESPLOST V to fund the following projects:

Enhancing Student Safety

  • Sielox Class emergency notification system: This system enables teachers to communicate with administrators, law enforcement, and emergency responders from a smartphone or tablet. With CLASS, a teacher or a school administrator can silently dispatch 911 in an emergency situation and law enforcement officers receive real-time information from the school.
  • Additional surveillance equipment.
  • Front door access evaluation at every school to determine modifications to improve safety.
  • Rekeying doors to the system's patented lock.
  • Evaluating and Updating Elementary School Playgrounds.
  • Purchasing School Buses.

Preparing Students for the 21st Century

  • 1:1 Technology Initiative: The Let's Get CONNECTed! Initiative will begin with iPads for all kindergarten through second grade students and Chromebooks for all third through eighth grade students to use at school. High school students will be assigned a Chromebook in the fall of 2017.
  • Strengthening network capacity and increasing wireless access points.

Maintaining Facility Equitability

  • Graysville Elementary School: This project will include demolishing the oldest part of the building, renovating the remaining section, and building a new wing.
  • Ringgold Middle School baseball/softball Complex.
  • Heritage Middle School and Lakeview Middle School baseball/softball concessions and restrooms.
  • Lakeview-Ft. Oglethorpe High School football stadium bleachers and a new track.

Maintaining the Community's Investment in Facilities

  • HVAC, roofing, painting, flooring, etc. will occur in every school as necessary during the next five years.
