Superintendent's Update

Mr Chance Nix PictureDear Catoosa County Public Schools Families,

Robert Collier once said, “Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.” This perfectly captures the ongoing success of Catoosa County Public Schools. Year after year, CCPS consistently performs at the highest levels in the state, a testament to the countless small actions and dedicated efforts of our teachers, staff, and students. As we enter the third year of our 5 Year Strategic Plan, we remain deeply committed to maximizing academic achievement—a cornerstone of our mission to ensure that every student graduates fully prepared for college or a career. We’re already a month into the school year, and it’s been an exciting journey so far! I want to thank everyone for your unwavering support as we continue our mission to provide the best education possible for our students. We’re more focused than ever on setting up every student for success, and academic excellence is a key pillar of the plan that ensures every student graduates prepared for college or a career. This year, I’m proud to share that our school district is once again leading the way in English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies, outperforming both the State of Georgia and our Region’s proficiency averages (GA school districts have not yet received their math scores)! Some highlights are:

4th Grade ELA: +4 points above the State average, +6.5 points above the RESA average

8th Grade ELA: +9 points above the State average, +9.5 points above the RESA average

8th Grade Science: +23 points above the State average, +22 points above the RESA average

High School Biology: +6.5 points above the State average, +7 points above the RESA average

8th Grade Social Studies: +6 points above the State average, +7 points above the RESA average

High School U.S. History: +8 points above the State average, +5 points above the RESA average

These exceptional results are a direct reflection of the hard work and dedication of our amazing teachers, who bring their best to the classroom every day, and our awesome students, who strive to reach new heights in their academic journeys. This success is driven by initiatives like specialized reading strategies, LETRS training, and math programs that have led to improved reading proficiencies and a sustained graduation rate of nearly ninety percent.

As we progress through the school year, I’ll continue to share our journey toward our strategic goals. CCPS is committed to enhancing instruction at every level, working together to align our curriculum and share successful teaching strategies. This collaborative partnership ensures we continue to progress, growing stronger and more united for every child, every day, without exception!

I encourage you to look over our Strategic Plan. I am providing a link for you here. I’m confident that our partnership with you—our parents and families—will continue to be the cornerstone of our success. Thank you for your ongoing support, and let’s make this year one of the best yet!

Warm regards,

 Superintendent Nix
